Bogart, Humphrey - Wool Cap. "Paperboy" style, houndstooth wool cap with bill and leather sweatband. Lining has "Lee Fifth Avenue…Silverwoods / Southern California." The cap was part of the estate of Verita Peterson Thompson, Bogie's toupee-maker and hairdresser, who claimed that she was also his lover, friend, and confidante. A letter of provenance from Richard Wilson of Norma's Jeans is included. Bogie was married to Mayo Methot when he and Verita (Bogie called her "Pete") met in 1942; he would often come to her house in Burbank. They remained friends until Bogie's death in 1957. In December 1956 Vera Peterson married movie producer Walter Thompson, who died (also of cancer) in 1975. In 1982, Verita wrote a book, Bogie and Me about her relationship with Bogie.
Estimated Value $800 - 1,000.
