Phoenicia, Tyre. Silver Shekel (14.42 g), ca. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. CY 28 (99/8 BC). Laureate bust of Melkart right, lion's skin tied at neck. Reverse: TYPOY IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY, eagle standing left on prow, palm on far wing; in left field, date (HK) and club; in right field, monogram; between legs, 'bet'. Hendin 1618; DCA Suppl. 69. The famous shekel of Tyre of early style. Traces of luster present and some areas of silver sulfide deposits on the obverse (removable). Extremely Fine. Estimate Value $700 - 800
