Sale 65

Lot 1365

1921. ANACS graded MS-64. Light golden toning around the borders on both sides. A popular Key Date and always in demand. This is a smartly struck coin in this grade, one that is enhanced by delicate color over the frosty luster. Although this date is often seen sharp, this particular specimen is even sharper, with full clarity on Liberty's head and only minor softness on her hand. One of the key dates to the series, all 1921 dated half dollars are in demand from cadres of collectors, new and old alike. Each mint’s production plunged during the sharp economic downturn which swept the nation in 1921-22. Demand for coinage fell. Production was not needed. The three issues of 1921 became the major stumbling blocks for date collectors, and finding just the right coin with just the right look entails patience and more money than other dates. This handsome MS64 will surely find many prospective buyers. Scarce so well preserved, and difficult to obtain finer than the present specimen.
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Realized $6,900
