Sanger, Margaret (1883-1966) Pioneer in birth control; founder of Planned Parenthood. Typed Letter Signed, Tucson, Arizona, April 25, 1961, one page octavo. Thanking a couple in Iowa for their support and stating that she is working on a conference to be held in India: "It is in the Orient now that the population question must be solved…." With a 5 x 4 inch Photograph Signed across the chest of her dark dress. When Sanger died in 1966, Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "…Our sure beginning in the struggle for equality by nonviolent direct action may not have been so resolute without the tradition established by Margaret Sanger and people like her."
