Sale 123

Lot 129

1847 N-29 R3 EF40. Sharpness at least 5 points better but the toning on the obverse is a bit darker than you like to see on such a sharp cent. The obverse is glossy dark olive brown with lighter olive on the devices; the reverse is lustrous light steel brown with a pair of short swipes of darker toning at OF-A. A couple peeps of faded mint red are visible on the reverse. No marks or other defects. LDS, die state d, with die cracks on the reverse. Doubling is clearly evident on the left side of the reverse (from die bounce or "machine doubling"). Estimated Value $150 - UP
Ex Tom Reynolds 5/2014-John McBride 6/20/2020-Colonel Steven K. Ellsworth Collection.

Realized $168
