King, Martin Luther, Jr (1929-1968) Baptist minister and civil rights activist whose heroic leadership during the civil rights struggles of the 1950s and 1960s enshrined him in national memory.
Signature ("Martin L. King, Jr."). Signed Time Magazine cover. Signed "With Best Wishes" in red ink. The cover has been matted to an overall size of 11 x 14" and a faint horizontal creases is visible near the bottom. This piece is in very good condition.
Issued early in King's career, February 18, 1957, while the Reverend was in the midst of forming the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. This cover portrays King in the pulpit and passengers boarding a city bus, in recognition of his role in ending the bus boycott. A beautiful portrait.
