Lot 123

1847 N-24 R1 PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Frosty olive and steel brown with traces of underlying very faded mint color on both sides. There is a puff of lighter golden tan toning at star 3 and another at NITE but no notable contact marks. A very shallow low spot covers much of the field behind the portrait (caused by grease or debris on the die), but everything else is sharply struck. M-LDS, die state c (Newcomb's old #25), with a fine die crack through the top of ME to the dentils at both ends. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 13 finer: 2 in 63, 4 in 64, 2 in 64+, 5 in 65. Estimated Value $300 - UP
