Lot 1205

World War II Era Samurai Sword. Japan, c. 1940's. The katana-type sword of Officer's Grade, with traditionally wrapped handle over shagreen, and stamped bronze manuki. The other fittings of classical Japanese Imperial Army style, including a rather attractive tsuba in brass. The scabbard is made of wood and covered in brown leather. This was a typical trademark of the military models. The arsenal-made piece with machine-blade with imitation temper line. Some little tears to the leather, otherwise sword very well preserved. The blade exceptionally clean and seems to have had little if any use. Sword length: 38-1/2".
Estimated Value $300 - 400.

Realized $990
