Lot 120

1847 N-22 R3+ PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Very attractive lustrous light bluish steel brown with traces of faded mint red showing on both sides. No spots or stains, only a few trivial marks. The best identifying marks are a light, dull scratch that meanders from left of star 7 to below that star and a tiny planchet flake just right of the date (as struck). M-LDS, die state e late. The die cracks on both sides are clear and the section of the rim between two cracks left of the date is just starting to rise as a retained cud. Our grade is MS62+, very close to MS63, and CC#6 in the Grellman census (but finest of die state e). The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 3 finer in 65. Estimated Value $1,200 - UP
