Lot 120

1820 N-12 R3 Large Date PCGS graded AU58. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown and steel with frosty lighter steel brown toning in the protected areas. No spots or stains, only microscopic hairlines on the obverse and a very light diagonal scratch right of star 2. The reverse is choice, nearly flawless. Nicely struck E-MDS. The lump over star 4 is strong and microscopic radial die flowlines are starting to show off the dentil tips. This is the plate coin for the variety in John Wright's reference on the cents of 1816-1839, and it comes with a nice provenance. Graded AU50 and tied for CC#12 in the Noyes census, his photo #38533. Our grade is AU50 net EF45. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #36670. Estimated Value $600 - UP
