Lot 12

1787 Nova Eborac (New York) NGC graded MS65 Brown. Type with the Seated Figure Facing Right. Superb lustrous olive brown and chocolate with very faded red showing in some of the protected areas, mostly on the obverse. The surfaces are flawless and the eye appeal of this piece is spectacular for a colonial copper. Struck slightly off center to K-3 leaving the upper part of some legends off the planchet but the date and remainder of the legends are strong. This is the plate coin for the type in the "Redbook." A candidate for the finest collection of early US coppers. NGC population 2; tied for finest graded at both services. Estimated Value $7,000 - UP
