WWII: Original Escape & Evasion Map from 1944. Only US Map Produced Which Also Served as a Blood Chit. Map No. 133 was printed at the request of MIS-X China and it covered the area from Kunming, China to Chabua, India, and was intended to meet the requirements of pilots flying over the Hump in the China-Burma-India theater. Preparation of the base map cost approximately $200 in 1944, not including printing costs. At the request of MIS-X, the map also included a blood chit and was the only cloth map so printed. The blood chit contains the following message in English, Bengali, Hindustani (Urda), Kachin, Lisu, Burmese, and Chinese. I AM AN AMERICAN AIRMAN. MY PLANE IS DESTROYED. I CANNOT SPEAK YOUR LANGUAGE. I AM AN ENEMY OF THE JAPANESE. PLEASE GIVE ME FOOD AND TAKE ME TO THE NEAREST ALLIED MILITARY POST. YOU WILL BE REWARDED. Map is in exceptional condition handsomely framed to 25 x 27" and scarce.
