Lot 1173

A Nifty Group of Coin-made Objects. China & Western Europe, 18th - early 20th century. First, a circular box made from British shillings of George III; also a Victoria 3 Pence was used to create a tiny padlock (key included); also a fob made up from silvered half pennies of Edward VII (1901-1910), these punched with high relief portrait of the king. From China, a cylindrical box is made to resemble a stack of half dollars of Yuan Shih-kai, whose coin forms the lid. Related: a pair of finger nail clippers - - one a coin-like souvenir of the George VI coronation in 1937; and another made from a reduced size imitation of a Spanish-Mexican 8 Reales of Charles III. A good lot. Lot of 6 coins.
Estimated Value $400 - 650.
Irving Goodman, Personal Collection.
