1798 S-144 R5+ Style I Hair with Large 8. Good-5. Sharpness VF20 with patches of fine porosity on both sides, three long nicks on the face, and several strong dents on the wreath under T in CENT. The obverse and reverse marks are opposite each other and caused a slight unevenness in the planchet in that area. No verdigris or other notable defects. Dark olive and steel with lighter chocolate and steel brown toning on the highpoints, especially on the obverse. The date is bold and the legends are strong. M-LDS, Breen state III, with a strong die crack through the tops of OF to the rim on either side. Called VF20 net G5 in the Bland census.
