1877 Pattern Half Dollar. Copper, reeded edge. Judd-1513. Pollock-1677. Low Rarity 7. PCGS graded Proof 65 Brown. CAC. PQ. The popular Morgan's "Defiant Eagle". The obverse depicts the usual Mogan head (from the 1878 dollar) in reduced size for the half dollar, with a fine circular border which has E PLURIBUS UNUM at the top, 13 stars, and date below. For the reverse Morgan's defiant eagle dominates facing left, and olive sprig in the field with legends above and HALF DOLLAR below. This is a rare and desirable pattern issue which is seldom offered. A fantastic gem for the astute numismatist. Pop 2; 4 finer, 1 in 65 RB, 1 in 66 RB, 2 in 66+ RB.
