Naguib, Mohammed (1901-1984) First president of Egypt. Photograph Signed and Inscribed "To Mr. Welton Becket with compliments. Mohd. Naguib. 8/11/53" as president and prime minister, 11½ x 8½ in. A chest-up portrait in uniform of the respected officer who was largely a front man for the Free Officers, who were headed by Gamal Ab-del Nasser. Signed in the lower border in English; facsimile signature on the mount in Arabic.
