Lot 1107

1885-CC PCGS graded Genuine Unc Details. Cleaning. Still a nice coin, and an elusive date. Two hundred thousand silver dollars were struck at Carson City in the first two months of 1885, consistent with the 100,000 monthly averages achieved in the final five months of 1884, according to Rusy Goe. "At some point prior to March 18, another 28,000 dollars were minted which did not show up in log reports until later in the year. This brought the total mintage to 228,000, lowest in the "CC" collar series and third lowest in the set of Morgan dollars (not counting 1895)." Business was suspended, closing the Carson Mint. The Mint would remain shuttered for four years (PCGS # 7160) .
Estimated Value $500 - 525.

Realized $646
