1847 N-13 R4 PCGS graded AU58+. Frosty light olive and bluish steel with traces of faded mint red on both sides. Sharply struck with just the slightest hint of rub on the highest points of the portrait. The only mark is a tiny rim nick at D in UNITED. TDS, die state d, with a small but strong rim cud break over the R in AMERICA. Our grade is AU58+, CC#15 for the variety but CC#5 of those few known with the rim cud in the Grellman census. And it comes with a very impressive provenance. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 5 finer: 1 in 62, 3 in 64, 1 in 65+.
