Wolcott, Oliver Jr (1760-1833) Secretary of the Treasury under Washington and Adams. Partly-printed Document Signed as Captain-General and Commander in Chief of Connecticut, New Haven, October 20, 1817, 1p, oblong folio. Appointing Charles Woodward "1st Lieutenant of the Tenth Company of the First Regiment of Light Artillery in the Militia of this State…." The paper and wax seal is intact; fine, with only a couple of small edge splits to folds. Wolcott was only the second Secretary of the Treasury, being appointed when Alexander Hamilton resigned. Wolcott was Governor of Connecticut from 1817-1827.
