Mercury Program, 1990, Mercury "Jewelry". Lot of two pieces of Sterling jewelry made in 1990 at the request of Alan Shepard for the wives of the Mercury astronauts and for two others. Included is a necklace with a large Mercury 7 charm (2.25x1") and a velvet choker with a smaller Mercury 7 charm (1.5"). A note included with the necklace's reads: "Alan Shepard had these (about 9) made for wives of Mercury astros in late 1990's (other two were given to Mar…Bauglast and Ida Maye Miller. Mold was then broken" (signed) Bobbie Slayton". Attractive and quite unusual.
