1786 New Jersey Maris 18-N Rarity-5+. Wide Shield. Sharpness VF30 but the shield is covered with old scratches. A single scratch slants through the horse's head and a couple more show in the field above the shield. All the scratches blend perfectly into the natural toning and the eye appeal remains decent. Rather glossy medium brown with reddish chocolate brown in protected areas on both sides. The date was lightly punched into this die but it is easily readable and the legends are bold. A very acceptable example of this tough die variety. Listed on page 69 in the "Redbook." Weight 149.7 grains.
