Lot 1029

1874. PCGS graded MS-66 Red PQ. CAC Approved. As is the case with several other dates from the 1870s, the 1874 has a relatively low mintage and is considered very scarce with full Red surfaces. PCGS currently has certified 117 examples as Red, with most of those graded MS-64 or MS-65. The present lot is just one of eight 1874 cents certified as MS66 Red by PCGS, none are finer at either service. It is precisely struck and highly lustrous with rich copper-red surfaces. There are no mentionable abrasions. Carbon is minimal with two minor flecks noted on the eighth feather tip and northeast of the 4 in the date, and faint clash marks are present near the profile and the C in CENT. An unimprovable representative of a conditionally challenging date. Pop 8; none finer at both services. (PCGS # 2120) .
Estimated Value $20,000 - 22,000.

Realized $27,025
