Stokowski, Leopold (1882-1977) English-born American conductor and arranger. Typed letter signed, one page, 11" x 8½", New York, Jan. 1, 1945. To William Saroyan, novelist, playwright and, concerning a possible collaboration on a movie for the U.S. Army. In part, "…talking with hundreds of soldiers and sailors…have noticed that one of the chief thoughts that is constantly in their minds is home and the girl that means most to them…There is wonderful music …it is the Fantastic Symphony of Berlioz…I believe that you and I together could make a picture that would have intense emotional significance…I am so busy with other work that I almost wish you will say 'No'. But all the same I think the picture should be made because it will give emotional relief to the almost overwhelming tension that is in the minds of so many men…" Boldly signed. Fine condition.
