Glass Jar with Trailed Ornament. Roman, c. 4th-5th century AD. Squat, broad bottle of fairly thick pale green glass, with funnel mouth. A trailed and crimped ribbon of glass encircles the shoulders, with similar star-like shapes applied around the sides. Nice silver and violet iridescence under earthen and grayish patina. Repaired, with a few restorations, otherwise fine overall. Height: 3-5/8". Scarcer type.
