Two Hawaiian Monarchy Land Deeds. One document is 12½ x 8 in., 1883, March 24, 4 pp., being a transaction with John D. Paris, Jr. relative to land in South Kona, Island of Hawaii. Includes 4 cancelled $1.00 Hawaiian government duty stamps. Fine with slight foxing. Paris was elected to the Territorial Legislature in 1887 and was a member of the Reform. With a Hawaiian monarchy land mortgage deed 12½ x 8 in., 1888, June 25, 5 pp., being a transaction with D. S. Kaui and Mrs. S. Robertson relative to land in Omokaa (Royal Patent 3434), Kona, Island of Hawaii. Among the signatories are Thomas G. Thrum, A., Charles Gulick, and William R. Castle. Thrum issued the first Hawaiian Almanac and Annual in 1875; he was a leading writer on Hawaiian archaeology and folklore. Gulick was a prominent businessman and one of the few missionary sons holding royalist sympathies. William R. Castle was Attorney General of the Kingdom of Hawaii from February to November, 1876. Fine.
