Lot 96

1846 N-26 R5 Tall Date, Repunched 1 F15. Mostly glossy medium brown and light chocolate with dark chocolate and olive brown toning in protected areas. The surfaces appear smooth but a glass reveals minor roughness in the fields and protected areas. Light contact marks are scattered over both sides; a very light rim bruise above star 8 can help identify this cent. M-LDS, die state c, with crumbling that connects the left top of the U to the dentils above. The repunching on the 1 is sharp. Tied for CC#12 in the Grellman census. Estimated Value $250 - UP
Ex Jim Bishop, 1990 EAC Sale, lot 326-R. S. Brown, Jr., McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 6/2/2002:336-Colonel Steven K. Ellsworth Collection (includes the Brown collection envelope and both lot tickets).
