1846 N-23 R5 Large Date, Repunched 1 NGC graded VF30. Slightly glossy dark olive and steel with lighter steel brown toning on the highpoints. There is a small planchet flake in the center of the neck and small contact marks on the truncation above the 8 and in the dentils under the 1. The surfaces are reasonably smooth but there are traces of dirt and verdigris in protected areas. EDS, die state a, before the rim cud at the top of the reverse. The repunching on the 1 is visible. Our grade is F15 sharpness net F12. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. NGC population 1, 2 finer: 1 in 45, 1 in 62BN. Estimated Value $400 - UP
