Dr. Paul W. Gast, Chief of the Division of Planetary and Earth Sciences: Personal Archive of 40 Oversized Lunar Images, Apollo 16 (1930-1973) "Moon Rocks Chief." That is how the New York Times described Dr. Paul W. Gast in his obituary on May 18, 1973. But for the three years prior to his untimely passing, Dr. Gast led a crew of scientists and geologists examining the trove of rocks and soil from the lunar surface. His work at NASA earned him the Medal for Exceptional Service and the Distinguished Service Medal, as well as awards from Columbia University. Offered are 4 amazing, oversized 11 x 14 images from the Apollo 16 Lunar Mission. A mix of color, black and white, glossy and matte finished photos. Nothing is identified but based on the North Ray crater we are assuming Apollo 16. There is one magnificent 11 x 14" black and white photo of the moon dated October 22, 1964. All images in excellent condition. Estimate Value $250 - UP
