Lot 91

1805 C-3 R4 Small 5 with Stems PCGS graded F15. Glossy chocolate brown and steel, the obverse blending to lighter and darker tones giving a delicately mottled appearance on that side. The reverse is a more uniform light to medium chocolate brown. Hints of mint frost remain visible in some of the protected areas, particularly on the reverse, and this piece offers excellent eye appeal. No corrosion or verdigris, only minor contact marks consistent with the grade. The notable marks are a small, light rim bruise over the E in LIBERTY, an even smaller one under the 1 in the date, and a faint hairline scratch over AM in AMERICA. LDS, Manley state 2.0, with strong swelling in the field before the portrait and the reverse rotated 15 degrees CW. Our grade is F15, same as the PCGS grade. An attractive, important example of this rare variety, in the lower half of the condition census. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 2 finer, 1 in 45, 1 in 58 for the variety. Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
