Apollo Space Suit Maintenance Kit: Incredibly Rare In-Flight Repair and Maintenance Kit of the A7LB Space Suit. Rare Apollo era artifact that is in equal measure fascinating and amusing. How does an astronaut repair a puncture or tear in their EMU (Extravehicular Mobile Unit) or spacesuit? With an Item Pouch Assembly, EMU Maintenance Kit, Part No. A6L-503058-XX Model A-6L 1/71 from ILC Industries, Inc. This compact kit made of beta cloth with velcro clasps has tubes of sealant, strip patches, tape fabric repair, seal replacement rings/gaskets, beta cloth patches, squares of all the UV protective foil layers, a syringe to press out sealant and instructions. A nearly complete kit however we note no needle and thread and anti-fog pads for the visor as mentioned in instructions
These pouches flew on all Apollo flights on both the Command and Lunar Modules. Some soiling to outside of kit otherwise in remarkable condition and an extraordinary addition to any collection. 5 x 6" folded, completely open 14 x 12". Estimated Value $4,500 - UP
