Spectacular Lockheed NF-104 Starfighter. The NF-104A was a modified Starfighter with an added rocket in the tail that served as a trainer for the North American X-15 program starting in 1963. It attained a maximum altitude of more than 120,000 feet which nearly killed the test pilot, Chuck Yeager. This rare and unusual commemorative model was given to aerospace designer Bruce Boland from the famous Skunkworks, makers of the U-2 and the SR-71, for his work on the project. Boland also designed the modified P-51 racer, Tsunami, for the Reno Air Races. The model is made of wood, and is in very good shape. The tail was broken off at one time and reattached with minor repairs. The stand is wood and metal.

Wingspan of 10 inches and length of 21 inches. Estimated Value $1,000 - UP
