1787 New Jersey Maris 38-Y Rarity-3 VG10. Clipped Planchet. Sharpness VF20 but there is a small but obvious dent on the plow beam that has caused a subtle bulge at the right top of the shield. Attractive glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter brown toning on the highpoints. The only hint of roughness is a small patch of fine verdigris under the 17 in the date. A curved planchet clip affects the dentils under the front end of the plow, as struck. The date and legends are complete and strong. Weight 152.5 grains. Listed on page 70 in the "Redbook."
