{Young, Brigham] Le Tabac, Inscribed to Young by the Author. Book on the evils of tobacco, in French by Dr. H.A. Depierris, inscribed: "to the honorable president Brigham Young respectfully the author H.A. Depierris." The book is "Physiologie Sociale. Le Tabac Qui Contient Le Plus Violent des Poisons: La Nicotine…." (Paris: Librairie de la Société des Gens de Lettres, 1876), 192pp. Paper covers are separated but present and pages are still uncut; string binding is loose in places and totally separated between pages 80 and 81. Interior is clean and legible. The main questions posed by this book on tobacco are whether or not nicotine, "the most violent of poisons" shortens life and is the cause of the physical and moral degeneration of modern societies.
