Lot 766

1831 N-7 R1 Large Letters NGC graded MS66 Brown. Beautiful highly lustrous bluish steel brown and chocolate with traces of faded mint color on the obverse and 10-15% of the reverse showing mint color. Electric blue overtones dominate the obverse giving this cent outstanding eye appeal. This cent is essentially flawless. The only marks are a tiny planchet flake in the center of the cheek and a barely visible tick in the field right of star 7. E-MDS, before the crumbling in the notch on the right side of the R in AMERICA. Called MS65 Choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21305. Bland says MS65 and tied for CC#1 as well. Our grade is MS65, clearly a superior example of the variety. And it comes with a nice provenance. Pop 2; none finer at NGC.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
