McKinley, William -- Typed Letter Signed as Republican Presidential Nominee (1843-1901) 25th President of the United States (1897-Sept. 15. 1901, six months into his second term). Typed letter signed "W McKinley" as the Republican presidential nominee, one page, on personal stationery, 8½ x 5½", Canton, Ohio, Ohio. A month after the Republican convention in St. Louis, where he was nominated on the first ballot, McKinley writes to General William C. Wallace, Judge Advocate General of New York, thanking him for his "cordial congratulations and tender of active support…." Light toning, else fine. Large, bold signature. William C. Wallace (1856 - 1901) served as a U.S. Representative from New York (1889-91) and was appointed judge advocate general on the staff of New York Governor Morton in 1894. Estimate $300 - 400
