Lot 735

1847 N-18 R5 Large 7 over Medium 7 EF40. At least five points sharper but lightly cleaned and retoned frosty bluish steel brown and chocolate. No spots or stains and only a few microscopic marks. The protected areas are covered with satiny mint luster. Rare terminal die state, state d, with strong rim cud breaks from below the 1 in the date to star 2 and another from star 4 nearly to star 5. The date repunching remains visible and the so called "Large 7 over Medium 7" feature is clear. And the curious "moonscape" effect seen on Ms Liberty (see the previous lot) is obvious on this example. Tied for CC#5 of about 20 known with these cud breaks, and several of those have weak cuds.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
