"America" by Joh. George Schreibern, c.1700's. This heavily charted map covers primarily North and South America with portions of the northern coast of West Africa and the southern tip of Europe. It is delicately accented with hand-applied hues of pink, green and yellow. A simple cartouche adorns the lower left and a significant legend is featured along the right side. As with many of the maps from this period, California is depicted as an island, thus creating a highly valuable document. Museum matted and framed to an overall size of 15.5 x 13". Light foxing in the lower right region. Fine.
