Complete Jurassic Era Lacewing Fossil. This complete 1½ x 1 inch flying insect with fully expanded wings is a 130 million year old lacewing insect (Sophogramma plecophlebia). Lacewings have been called the butterflies of the Jurassic because of their size and having large patterned wings. This impressive insect is complete with some veins visible in the wings, legs and head that is somewhat obscured by a brachiopod shell. The matrix is 3½ x 2 ½" with many other small brachiopod shells scattered throughout the matrix. Fossil is presented in a 9 x 6" brown wooden frame with a blue matte outlined in gold.
