Lot 72

$1 LT 9 note set M11A to M99A. Unlike the small size solid serial numbered notes in this auction, which are being sold individually, this magnificent set of 9 banknotes is being offered as a single lot. It contains all Fr. 37s $1 1917 Legal Tenders with s/n's M11A, M22A, M33A, M44A, M55A, M66A, M77A, M88A and M99A. Eight of the nine Fr. 37's grade PCGS 63PPQ to 67PPQ, with the M55A having a small edge repair lowering the grade to PCGS 64 Apparent on that one note. Estimated Value $10,000 - 20,000
John Whitney Walter bought this exquisite set in the late 1990s and it was one of his favorites. When these notes are stacked on top of each other they make a marvelous display for all to see. Individual $1 1917 LTs with fancy serial numbers like these typically realize $1200 to $1800 per note at auction. Today's bidders will determine the fair price for this great set of NINE NOTES in this lot.
