1879-O. NGC graded AU-58. Scarce date with a tiny mintage of just 1,500 pieces of which today about 70 pieces exist. This one is up there with the finer examples and despite rather generous bagmarks, retains the usual frosty bright surfaces one expects on gold coins from this era. A really tough New Orleans issue which is seldom offered in any grade. Untoned. Pop 6; 3 finer, 1 in 58+, 1 in 60+, 1 in 61. (PCGS # 8685) Estimated Value $30,000 - 35,000
