Lot 708

1839. Large letters. NGC graded AU-55. This is the Type of 1838, with the swept back hair covering Liberty's ear and the elegantly sinuous curvature to her trunaction line which ends in an abrupt point on her back. The color is most pleasing with orange-gold toning noted around the periphery on both sides, with generally attractive surfaces. These is on minor nick at the top of the obverse and on the correspondeing section of the reverse, but this is old and easy to overlook given the overall appeal and surfaces of this particular coin. Mostly untoned at the centers. Only 25,801 struck. Pop 27; 39 finer at NGC. Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000
