Lot 689

Triceratops Dinosaur Frill Bone. The famous horned dinosaur Triceratops had a thick frill surrounding its skull for protection against theropod dinosaurs such as T-Rex. This large 24 inch long and 2 ½ inch thick section of the frill was found in four pieces which have been reattached. The medium brown bone is very dense and heavy which would have been very good protection against a predator's bite. Most dinosaur bones do not come out of the ground complete and in pristine condition. Usually, they are broken and need repair such as this interesting frill bone section which was found on a private ranch in the 66-67 million year old Hell Creek Formation of Montana. Estimated Value $150 - UP

Realized $475
