Center folds. Accompanied by a typed letter signed as Chief Justice, on "Supreme Court of the United States" letterhead, 1 page, 10½ x 8 in/, Washington, D.C., May 16, 1932. To Henry L. Stoddard of New York City, regarding receipt of Hughes personal check "…relating to my check for $500 of May 11, 1932, to be used in the matter of William R.Wilcox. I am satisfied with any disposition that you make of this amount in his interest. I am writing this merely to state our understanding that you are under no personal obligation to me…" Overall toning with vertical and horizontal center folds. Both items in very good condition.
