Lot 65

1845 N-8 R1 NGC graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty dark steel brown and olive with at least 5% of both sides showing mellowed mint red. No spots or stains, only trivial contact marks visible under magnification. The best identifying marks are a dull pinprick in the field off the chin and a nearly vertical struck-through line right of the lower point of star 3 (as struck). LDS, die state c. The die line inside the triangle of the 4 is gone. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#16 in the Grellman census. The COL Ellsworth Collection provenance is noted on the NGC label. (We asked NGC to place the die variety on the label but they were not able to confirm the attribution. The late state of 1845 N-8 is one of the more difficult varieties to attribute so they can be excused, but this is most definitely N-8). Estimated Value $500 - UP
