Sylvia Sidney. 11 x 14 in. photo with original pencil signature ("Mitchell NY") by photographer Herbert Mitchell. Matted and framed to an overall size of 14¾ x 17¾ in. A very young portrait of Miss Sidney (1910-1999), born Sophia Kosow, at the start of her New York stage career. Her Hollywood career took flight in 1931 when she was chosen to replace Clara Bow opposite Gary Cooper in "City Streets" and followed as the doomed factory worker in the film version of Theodore Dreiser's novel An American Tragedy. A lovely photo of Miss Sidney as an ingenue.
