Septimius Severus (AD 193-211), Gold Aureus, 6.8g. Septimius Severus (AD 193-211), Gold Aureus, 6.8g. Minted in AD 207. SEVERVS PIVS AVG, laureate head facing right. Rev. RESTITVTOR VRBIS, Roma seated left, holding palladium and sceptre; at her side, shield (RIC 288; Calico 2529). Needle sharp with traces of mint lustre, faint scratch at 1 o’clock on the reverse and a couple of trivial marks on the obverse rims, otherwise extremely fine.
