1797 C-3b R4 Lettered Edge Fair-2. The obverse is slightly sharper but the reverse is weaker, and both sides show minor porosity scattered about. No verdigris and the only marks are a few old hairline scratches on the obverse that blend with the toning. Slightly glossy dark olive brown with lighter chocolate toning covering the devices. The two-tone contrast helps accent the designs. The date is complete and easily readable but the legends are mostly gone. The edge lettering is complete and easily readable, but the letters are taller than the planchet thickness, as usual for these thin lettered edge planchets. Weight 71.3 grains.
