Hayes, Rutherford B (1822-1893) 19th President of the United States (1877–81). Card signed "Rutherford B. Hayes," 2 x 4", no place (1886 is penned in the lower left corner in another hand). Fine condition. Matted with a small engraving of Hayes and framed to an overall size of 14½ x 9¾". Hayes' election in 1876 over Samuel J. Tilden was one of the most contentious in U.S. history.
