Lot 60

1845 N-3 R4 NGC graded MS65 Brown. Frosty bluish steel and olive with at least 5% of the mint red remaining, mostly on the obverse. Sharply struck and attractive, but the luster is subdued somewhat by a very thin layer of natural oxidation. The only notable marks are a small spot of darker toning nestled between star 4 and the dentils to the left and dull rim nicks at the R and C in AMERICA. Sharply struck EDS, die state a, before any die cracks or rim cuds. Our grade is MS60 net AU58 for the two small rim nicks, CC#5 in the Grellman census. May benefit from a proper bath and brushing to uncover more of the underlying luster. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. NGC population 2; none finer. Estimated Value $900 - UP
