Lot 6

1840 N-4 R3- Small Date PCGS UNC Detail Scratch. Frosty light olive and medium brown with traces of mellowed mint red in protected areas, particularly on the reverse. A sharply struck cent that has great eye appeal, but there are some marks that do not catch your eye. These include a few tiny spots of darker toning between the chin and star 1, a pair of light scratches down through the N's in ONE CENT, and a rim nick at the second A in AMERICA. MDS, die state b, with clearly defined rim cud breaks from below the 18 around clockwise to star 3. The rim cuds on this piece are more complete and stronger than the ones on the preceding example. Our grade is net AU50+. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimated Value $500 - UP
Ex James R. McGuigan-James E. Long 9/2007-John McBride-Colonel Steven K. Ellsworth Collection.
